Process
The design process starts with a simple call or e-mail with a brief description of your project needs.
We will schedule our first meeting at your place to discuss your priorities, design preferences, your budget and deadlines. It will be a brainstorming session that will allow me to know you a little bit better and to give you some tips. It's always helpful to have inspirational pictures available for our first meeting. I will then prepare a detailed scope of work and my offer for our collaboration for your review and approval. With your green light your interior design project is launched.
After the initial meeting where goals and objectives are discussed and agreed, the next step is concept development. This is an intense research stage when I try to bring together all the available information and make a space analysis. Measurements and photos are also taken at this time. First architectural 2D Floor Plans are produced in order to display space planning, the circulation and the furniture layout. You will have the possibility to choose between 2 or 3 options and approve the final space planning.
Some design ideas, colors or textures will be presented through mood boards and inspirational pictures.
Once the new space planning is finalized we will proceed to the most exciting part. This is when colors and finishes are refined, furniture, fabrics and equipment are selected, bids are obtained, contractors selected and purchase orders are issued. Some technical details are to be produced for millwork specifications, lighting plans and electrical layouts. In order to help you visualizing how all the pieces will fit together in the space, I will create computerized 3D renderings. It will allow you to make some final choices before ordering or approving the materials' and color scheme.
This is the final and funniest stage when you are seeing your design concept coming to life, where things are built and installed. What is important is to plan this stage extensively before we begin. I will create a project plan and will decide how to coordinate the subcontractors. You will see me often onsite to ensure items are received in good condition, installed correctly, and that documents have been followed properly.
